Irish Mesh Lace Sweater

Create Casual Elegance with our Irish Mesh Lace Sweater Knitting Pattern!

Use DK weight yarn to knit a simple oversized cardigan with lace back in sizes XS-5XL.

Techniques you need to know to knit this pattern include the knit stitch, purl stitch, slip stitch, how to pass a slipped stitch over, and yarn over (yo).

This sweater is knit in one piece from the bottom, then the sleeves are cast on.  The neck opening is created by binding off on one row and casting on the next.  The sleeves are worked until the same length as the front and then bound off.  Finally, you work the opposite body section, seam the underarms and side seams and then pick up and knit the collar and sleeve hems.

The Irish Mesh Stitch is used for the lace and it is an easy lace pattern that uses knit, yarn over and slipping stitches and passing them over.

1. Yarn: Mary Maxim Mellowspun DK (100% acrylic, 284yds/100g), Denim - 4 (5, 5, 6, 6, 6, 7, 8, 8) skeins
2. Needles: US Size 6 (4.00mm) circular needles and dpns
3. Notions: Yarn needle, scissors
